James Sheahan P&F (Parents & Friends)

Every parent and carer of students at James Sheahan is automatically a member of the P&F, so if you’re interested in being part of a dynamic, involved P&F, please come along and join us. Our P&F represents all parents and carers of students at James Sheahan Catholic High School. Every one of you is welcome at P&F meetings, which are held twice a term, on Wednesday evening in week 3 and week 7, in the Bistro Room at Kelly’s Hotel, unless otherwise notified in the school newsletter, the P&F Facebook page or by email.
We think James Sheahan is an exceptional school with exceptional staff and families.  Come along to one of our meetings to find out what’s going on.  Due to the success of the Voluntary Contribution, we only have one social event/fundraiser per year, so most of our time at meetings is spent discussing such issues as wellbeing, and where P&F funds are best allocated. The benefit of attending P&F meetings is that your voice is heard – and it really does make a difference!
The James Sheahan P&F seeks to support the school by actively engaging with the Principal and staff of the school.  The P&F exists to be a voice for parents, to generate community spirit, and also to complement what the school provides for the students, by raising funds for student wellbeing programs, additional classroom resources, and supporting teacher projects.  We also help out as parent representatives on interview panels for teaching staff, or when a parent presence is needed for workshops etc.
Over the years we have raised a significant amount of funds, used for a range of initiatives, such as the Rite Journey teacher training ($11,510), car park improvements ($13,300), tennis court resurfacing ($6,000), Library donation ($5,200), Memorial Gardens ($2,500), and various smaller but still significant achievements such as grants for teachers, the annual welcome BBQ for all families, and an annual thank you morning tea for teachers and staff each December. 
The P&F has a page in the school newsletter, which is published every two weeks, to let everyone know what we’re up to and where we’re heading.  We also have a Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SheahanPandF) to promote P&F activities and scheduled events.
Our AGM is held at the time of the final general meeting each year (usually week 7 of term 4), so executive positions are filled before the start of the new school year, ensuring that new parents feel comfortable attending meetings from the beginning of each year. We welcome new faces and fresh input.  Come along and join us at our meetings – it’s great to know what’s going on at the school, and really good for our kids, and the Sheahan teachers and staff, to know parents are involved, and that we care about the school.
